The Heavenly Host
This is the grave of a small child. The lamb is most often seen on children's graves and is a symbol of innocence.
Broken Column with Wreath
The column may be seen as whole or broken. This broken column is representative of mortality and a life cut too short. The wreath atop it is symbolic of victory in death whilst the cross is for the Christian faith.
Woodmen of the World
Next to angels, this is some of my favorite art. This is just one example of the beautiful markers placed on members of the Woodmen of the World which is an insurance company and fraternal organization.
Skull with Wings
This was found on a VERY old grave in Charleston (and on numerous other equally old graves in this particular cemetery). The skull with wings is symbolic of death/mortality and the ascension into heaven.
Crown & Cross
The crown and cross symbolize both victory over death and Christianity.
